In 1984 at Old Trafford, Sir Vivian richards scored a remarkable 189* out of a total of 272 for West Indies against England in an ODI.
With the West Indies score at 102-7 England must have thought they had won the match. However a 59 run partnership with Eldine Baptiste (26) helped them to 161-8. Joel Garner soon came and went and so number eleven Michael Holding strode to the wicket.
Thereafter Richards hit the English bowlers of Pringle, Foster, Botham and Willis to all parts. The last wicket undefeated parternship was worth 106 with Holding contributing only 12.
