Michael Vaughan running out of time to impress the selectors

Thursday, September 04, 2008 : County Championship, England

Michael VaughanMichael Vaughan is running out of opportunities to impress the selectors before the end of the season. Dismissed today for 19, he has scored 29 runs from 3 innings since taking a sabbatical following his resignation as England captain.

After their current match against Sussex, Yorkshire play only 2 further county championship matches this season and as Vaughan is unlikely to take part in the county's remaining Pro40 fixtures, he'll be hoping for a change of fortune in the 2nd innings dig.

Vaughan has expressed a desire to fight his way back into the England team, presumably as an opening partner for Cook. However, if the England selectors don't pick him for the tour to India this could be the end of the international road for Michael Vaughan. Peter Moores has declared that England will delay the announcement of the Test squad for India until the end of the season, to allow Vaughan a chance to make a case.
