It has been a momentous week for a small Somerset seaside resort. They have a brand new pier after a Fawlty switch in one of the Towers (can you see where I’m going with this) set fire to the last one. John Cleese, Peter Trego and donkeys famously originate from Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset.
The last Somerset cricket festival at Weston-super-Mare was in 1996. Come on SCCC let’s have another one, or at least a Festival of Beach/Mud Cricket, 6 and out if you hit a donkey.
Peter Trego is also a footballer and has played in goal for Weston-super-Mare. John Cleese has not.
When W-S-M FC get beaten by Shepton Mallet FC 2-0 in the Blackacre Farm Eggs Somerset Cup (Northern Division), does some Noweigen Commentator cry out? ... Bob Hope, Ritchie Blackmore, Jeffery Archer, Jill Dando, John Cleese, Peter Trego, Donkeys... your boys took a hell of a beating.
