Super Cricket Action GameHave you ever wondered why Subbuteo Cricket is called 'Subbuteo' Cricket and what that has to do with the bird the Common Buzzard?

The inventor of Subbuteo, Peter Adolph, was unable to register 'Hobby' as his preferred choice of name for his table top game. Instead he used the Latin name of the bird related to the Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo), the Hobby (Falco subbuteo).

Subbuteo (now owned by Hasbro) don't sell cricket games anymore but the closest you can get is the 'Super Cricket Action Game'. My son has this and has had many hours enjoyment from it. You need a flat table top to play because on a carpet the wickets and fielders fall over and inevitably are trampled under foot. The game is a far better alternative to PlayStation's for 5-8 year olds.

Super Cricket Action Game is sold by Amazon.
