The Stanford Quadrangular Twenty20 Tournament

Friday, October 10, 2008 : Stanford Files

Stanford Cricket GroundWhile sounding like a successor to a Pythagorean Theorem, the Stanford Quadrangular is a four-way Twenty20 tournament between England, the Stanford Superstars (the West Indies?) and 2 other international teams. It will be played at Lords over 3/4 days just prior to the World Twenty20 Cup that starts on June 5.

Winner take all cricket at Lords

With further details to be released it is unclear how the teams will be rewarded but initially the idea was for a £5M prize. While the Stanford Super Series, is taking place far away in dollar-soaked Antigua, the Stanford Quadrangular will bring the new entrepreneurial era of the game, to the quiet corridors of the home of cricket. Whatever next?
