Somerset did actually win the County Championship 2010!

Friday, September 17, 2010 : County Championship

Somerset did actually win the County Championship 2010By my calculations, Somerset did actually win the County Championship 2010... if you used last year’s bonus point system. Only 14 points for a win and 4 points for a draw would have seen the mighty Somerset eclipse the Trent Bridge cabbage-patchers by a whole 2 points.

But Notts won more games you say. Well that’s true, they won 1 more game (remember Glenn Chapple and Lancashire), but they also lost 3 more! Where’s the fairness in that, whinge, whinge. Somerset lost their first 2 games because they had to play their first fixtures away, back in February, when low scoring matches can be anyone’s game.

Notts v Somerset, player for player, don’t make me laugh. Just look at the all-rounders. Well Samit Patel is definitely all rounder. Pete Trego, who does actually breathe fire after taking a wicket, is the definition of the hard-working cricketer who gives 110% in the gym and on the field.

No Third Man in no way has any bias whatsoever towards counties in the South Western region of South West England.
