Somerset did actually win the County Championship 2010!
Friday, September 17, 2010 : County Championship
By my calculations, Somerset did actually win the County Championship 2010... if you used last year’s bonus point system. Only 14 points for a win and 4 points for a draw would have seen the mighty Somerset eclipse the Trent Bridge cabbage-patchers by a whole 2 points.
But Notts won more games you say. Well that’s true, they won 1 more game (remember Glenn Chapple and Lancashire), but they also lost 3 more! Where’s the fairness in that, whinge, whinge. Somerset lost their first 2 games because they had to play their first fixtures away, back in February, when low scoring matches can be anyone’s game.
Notts v Somerset, player for player, don’t make me laugh. Just look at the all-rounders. Well Samit Patel is definitely all rounder. Pete Trego, who does actually breathe fire after taking a wicket, is the definition of the hard-working cricketer who gives 110% in the gym and on the field.
No Third Man in no way has any bias whatsoever towards counties in the South Western region of South West England.
