Pink Rubber Cricket Bat Grips
Thursday, September 11, 2008 : Bats, Equipment

What is the fashion for all things pink in cricket? From pink rubber cricket bat grips
to shirts and pink balls
, it's all getting a little camp. Brian Close would never, ever wear pink. Well maybe he would as it's all in a good cause.
Middlesex's pink shirts are for the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Matthew Hayden and Andrew Symonds use pink grips for their bat handles to raise awareness for Breast Cancer in Australia and in particular the Mcgrath Foundation set-up by Glenn McGrath's wive Jane McGrath, who passed away on Sunday 22nd June 2008.
The pink cricket ball
is the brain-child of John Stephenson at the MCC. In conjunction with Imperial College London, the ball is being tested as an alternative to the white ball that looses its colour too quickly.
