NTM England XI for 3rd ODI at Kanpur
Wednesday, November 19, 2008 : England
When questioned about the make up of the England team for the first 2 ODIs, captain Kevin Pietersen said there was 'Food for Thought'. England surely will make changes but what will they be? Here are the thoughts of the No Third Man selectors:
- Bell
- Shah
- Collingwood*
- Pietersen
- Flintoff
- Prior
- Patel
- Broad
- Swann
- Harmison
- Sidebottom
* If England get a good start then Colly would drop to 5 with Pietersen and Flintoff bumped up to 3 and 4.
Bowlers
- Broad
- Sidebottom
- Harmison
- Flintoff
- Swann
- Patel
- Collingwood

Bowling Options
- 4 seamers and your front-line spinner
- 3 of the 4 seamers complete their allocation and spin makes up the rest (10-18 overs)
- 3 seamers (different balance to team*) and 20+ overs of spin
*If you know spin is the main weapon then don't play 4 seamers. Drop a seamer for an extra batsman/dibby-dobber(Bopara) and be prepared for Swann, Patel and Pietersen to bowl more than 20 overs between them.
Anderson plays if Sidebottam is unfit. Or you play a seamer less and 8/9 batsmen. But if you do then one of the openers has to be a pinch-hitter type bat and if they get out don't panic.
