Whatever happened to live Test cricket on TV?

Sunday, August 17, 2008 : TV & Radio, Tests

SkyAs a kid I used to watch whole days of live test cricket on TV without missing a ball. Great care was needed to take toilet breaks only during drinks, lunch and tea especially after too much frothy strawberry Cresta. As a result I grew to love Test cricket, appreciate it's subtleties, pace and detail.

After the ECB announced the extension of satellite only live cricket until 2013 - 4 more years! - I began to worry that my son is not going to build this life-long love of cricket unless we sign-up to Sky Sports. The thought of not watching the next Ashes series, and now the one after that as well, is difficult to accept. With KP at the helm, Freddie and Harmy firing on all cylinders, it will be unmissable.

Sky have brought may innovations to cricket coverage. Sky has screened England's Tests abroad for almost 20 years.

I’ve persuaded myself. I just need to persuade my wife now!

Sign up to Sky Sports.
