Thursday, August 21, 2008 : County Championship, England

Geraint JonesBefore today Geraint Jones was averaging 24.4 in the Championship with 2 fifties. Today he was last man out with 106 from 197 balls with 14 fours against Lancashire at Canterbury. However, he has the most dismissals of all the Division 1 keepers, with Matt Prior interestingly about 25% below the others main contenders.

Although Jones keeping was criticised on occasion during his tenure as England glove-man it was his batting that let him down in the end. Jones, Mustard and most notably Prior have all scored Test hundreds early in there career. Only Prior continued to produce with the bat if somewhat patchily.
