Who has won the most Cricket World Cups?
Australia are 4 times winners and have won the last 3 successive World Cups. West Indies won the first 2 and India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have all won 1. England have never won the ICC World Cup.
When did it start?
1975. The first 3 World Cups were played in England with the final at Lords. In 1987 the first World Cup to be played outside of England took place in India and Pakistan. A 5 year gap followed to the next World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. World Cup VII returned to England in 1999 and has been played every 4 years since.
Where is the next World Cup next?
In 2011 the World Cup will be played in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, with the final being played at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. This will be World Cup X. In 2015 it is due to be played in Australia and New Zealand.
What is the format?
The format for the 2011 World Cup is 50 over cricket. 14 teams will play in 2 groups in a round-robin format. The top four teams from each group will proceed to the knock out stage playing quarter-finals. Winners of the quarter-finals will play semi-finals and the winning semi-finalists will play in the final. In 2015 it is proposed to only have 10 teams.
Why won't England win again?
Well, following their T20 World Cup victory... to be honest... they might win! This time, more than any other time, etc etc.
