Australia lose 3 Test matches on the bounce for the first time in 22 yearsFor the first time since the ICC Test Rankings were introduced, Australia fall to #5 in the world, below England.

Australia have all the momentum of a runaway train going into the Ashes. The lack of even one quality spinner has been cruelly exposed by the Indian batsman. The rest of the bowling attack are also struggling to maintain some control for the Australian captain.

Ricky Ponting, nor any Australian captain since 1988, has ever experienced this before. Losing 3 consecutive Tests is very un-Australian. But that is where they find themselves going into an home Ashes series. A place where they haven’t lost to England for 23 years. But then, records seem to mean nothing at the moment(um).
