The Ashes Test Cricket Series 2009 - Where and when - The grounds, venues and dates
Monday, September 01, 2008 : The Ashes
The Ashes series of 2005
captured the imagination of the entire country. On the field tempers flared and temperatures soared, ending with Freddie's bleary eyes battling the Trafalgar Square sunshine. Great memories. But when is the first test of the Ashes 2009 and when do I need to book some time off and get tickets?
The 5 Test Series starts at Cardiff, the first time the ground has been a Test Match venue, followed by Lords, Edgbaston, Headingley and The Oval. There are 2 sets of back to back Tests, so to incorporate enough rest days the first Test starts on a Wednesday. Interestingly, the Wednesday start at Edgbaston this year wasn't a resounding success with the ground nowhere near full for the first 2 days.

Everyone should bring a extra bag of Murray Mints just in case they run out of them on the field.
