Last summer the press were out for Alastair Cook to be sliced and diced from the England team. Now just a few months later, in his innings at Brisbane, not only did the Chef produce a delicious hundred but he also went back for second helpings.
Alastair Cook’s maiden double hundred is only the 10th time an England batsman has gone past 200 in the last 20 years. Andy Flower, Graham Gooch and the England Selectors will be doubly glad Cook turned his latest century into a Big Daddy.
