14000 Test Runs - Sachin Tendulkar
Monday, October 11, 2010 : Reference, Tests
Sachin Tendulkar became the first batsman to pass 14,000 Test runs. He reached the landmark on day two of the second Test against Australia in Bangalore 2010 from a trademark cut off the bowling of Nathan Hauritz, bringing spectators and team-mates to their feet at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Playing in his 171st Test the 37-year-old then went on to complete his 49th Test century the following day. This was his 11th century against Australia and made in a game where his old adversary Ricky Ponting was captain of the opposition. Ponting at the time was on 39 hundreds.
Known as the ‘The Little Master’, Tendulkar’s first Test century was against England way back on the 14 August 1990 at Old Trafford when he was aged just 17.
